THE FIRM

 

Rea & Sockhill Solicitors was first established on the 5th of May 1947 in country Queensland at Kingaroy. The practice opened a branch on the Sunshine Coast at Maroochydore on the 1st February 1971.  At this time, Gary Sockhill was the senior partner and owner of the firm.

Ultimately, on the 17th April 1979, both the Kingaroy and Maroochydore offices were combined and relocated to its current position in Buderim.

The Sunshine Coast is an ideal coastal area situated approximately 100 kms north of Brisbane,and boasts a very relaxed and enjoyable lifestyle.

 

 

BRUCE SOCKHILL : SENIOR PARTNER

 

Bruce Sockhill was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a solicitor on the 3^rd of February 1986, and the High Court of Australia on the 13th of February 2000.

 

Joining his Unlce's firm, Bruce was made a partner at Rea & Sockhill on the 1^st July 1987.  Upon the retirement of Gary Sockhill in 1990, Bruce Sockhill ascended to become the senior partner.

 

Bruce's main interests are:

          Asset protection : Foreign investment strategies : Offshore corporate structues

          Tax minimisation using international vehicles : Privacy and Offshore banking secrecy.

Having lectured extensively in Australia, South East Asia and Central America, Bruce has built up a large number of international connections from Hong Kong to the British Virgin Islands, Panama, Central America and parts of Europe.

Bruce makes a point of staying up-to-date with changes in the international arena, thus ensuring you receive timely, cutting edge strategies to keep your assets private and protected … allowing you to build your asset base exponentially in a tax-free environmnment.

MEET THE TEAM

 

Lauren McLean : Receptionist / Personal Assistant

Lauren has been with our firm since June 2007. She works as Bruce Sockhill's personal assistant and as our receptionist. Lauren is originally from London, England and has experience working as a legal secretary both in London and here on the Sunshine Coast. She has previously worked in the legal areas of intellectual property, family law and wills and estates. Lauren has travelled extensively to places such as Iceland, Spain and Vietnam but now calls the Sunshine Coast home.

 

Helen Nottidge : Conveyancer

Helen worked with a Caloundra legal firm some 35 years ago as an experienced legal secretary before travelling around Australia with her young family. During the 1970's she worked for Legal Aid in the Kimberleys. After returning to the Sunshine Coast she commenced work for Rea & Sockhill in 1980 on a part time basis and is now the full time conveyancer.

 

Sandra Barnett : Paralegal - Estates Clerk

With 35 years of Estate experience, Sandra is Rea & Sockhill's specialist in deceased estate administration. She has been with the firm since 1985 contributing her skills and background in conveyancing, family law, litigation, personal injuries and will drafting.

Sandra's vast experience in her specialised field as a paralegal, coupled with her own personal experiences of life, a world traveller and part time piano teacher adds to her empathy with our clients. She handles each individual administration with expertise and understanding.

 

 

Melissa Saunders : Legal Secretary (Part Time)

 

Melissa started work as receptionist at Rea & Sockhill as her first job in early 1990's and is still with us. She was Bruce Sockhill's personal assistant and legal secretary for over a decade. In the past couple of years Melissa has reduced her hours to part time as she focusses on her role of being the mother of two young girls.

Due to her many years with the firm, Melissa has an extensive knowledge of the operations and philosophy of Rea & Sockhill and can comfortably operate in the areas of commercial law, wills, powers of attorney, contracts and conveyancing.

 

Wendy Everitt : Financial Controller

 

Bringing extensive financial and accounting experience to Rea & Sockhill, Wendy's role is book keeper and financial controller. She ensures that all requisite financial reporting and legal requirements are met and maintained, thus ensuring financial accountability and transparency to you, our client.
